$60k POT. KING OF SPEECH PLAY!
HOTW: Will J-Y get talked out of the pot?

Dear fiends, fangs, and farmers who forgot their pitchforks at home...
HAPPY HALLOWEEN!
If you’re new here, every week we talk about one hand that bites us hard enough to turn us into members of the walking drawing dead. We call it the Hand of the Week!
This week’s hand has one of our hosts, Justin Young, with pocket Jack-o-Lanterns up against the king of the villains, Nick Airball. The hand’s special because...
It’s a $60k pot!
Nick shows his speed with some impressive speech play
We got the river decision ON VIDEO!
Now that I have your attention…
On to the hand:
We're playing $25/$50/$100 on Table 1 at the Aria poker room. Chips are flying and everyone’s having a great time. Everyone except for Justin that is. He’s stuck on the river with a really tough decision against an aggressive opponent. Let’s talk about how he got here.
Nick Airball opens up the pot to $300 in middle position. A player on the button calls the $300 and Justin is in the big blind with J♠️J♣️. He raises it up to $1,700. Nick is the only caller. Let’s take a look at the flop:
T♦️ 8♥️ 4♥️
Pretty safe flop for Jacks. Justin continues with a bet of $1,200. Nick decides to raise it up to $3,100. With so many draws out there and Justin betting so small, he decides it’s worth a call to see the turn. The turn card brings the 6♦️.
Board: T♦️ 8♥️ 4♥️ 6♦️
Pot size: ~$9,700
Justin checks it over to Nick who puts out a bet of $6,000. Justin thinks for a bit and slides in the call. The river card is the K♦️.
Board: T♦️ 8♥️ 4♥️ 6♦️ K♦️
Pot size: $21,700
Now the diamonds are a concern as Nick could have been bluffing and backed into a flush. Justin checks it over to Nick who fires out two $25k chips (even though he only needed to bet 1 to put Justin all in). The effective bet is Justin’s stack of $19k. Let’s watch the end of the hand together…(in case the embed doesn’t work in your email here’s the direct link
😂😂😂 It’s good to be the king indeed! Happy Halloween, and see you next week for another Hand of the Week!
And if you haven’t checked out the Table 1 Podcast yet, here’s our first episode where Justin details how he lost his bankroll to Dan Bilzerian. We also tell our stories of how we got into poker and moved to Las Vegas.
Cheers,
Art and Justin
